The top 100 Canadian businesses are presented by Scotiabank Women Initiative, the National Post, and Visa Canada
Calgary, AB (December 1, 2020) – Calgary business owner and founder of Medlior Health Research Outcomes Ltd, Tara Cowling, has been named as one of the Top 100 female entrepreneurs in Canada.
Run in partnership with the Scotia Bank Women Initiative and Visa Canada, the Total Mom Pitch is an opportunity for financial and business support to grow and scale the companies of female entrepreneurs in Canada. Partners and sponsors include the Government of Canada Women’s Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub, Export Development Canada, Google, UPS, Futurpreneur Canada and many more.
“I am honoured to have been selected as a top 100 finalist,” said Cowling. “There are so many women across Canada starting incredibly valuable businesses, often with a passion for improving the lives of children, families, and communities.”
Medlior is a community-based research organization in Calgary, Alberta with a female leadership team. They collaborate with their local universities to offer student internships, sponsorship of student-led conferences and support for the University of Calgary Life Sciences Innovation Hub.
Additionally, they work closely with the health system in Alberta to produce novel research on the burden of disease to inform and improve patient care.
“As a female founder of a scientific company, focused on data analytics, I hope to be an example for other women looking to succeed as leaders of STEM businesses,” said Cowling. “Our core purpose is to positively impact patient health worldwide and our research benefits communities, families, and the greatest caregiver of them all – moms.”
The Total Mom Pitch Program’s top five finalists will be decided in early December by judges including Total Mom Inc. Founder Anna Sinclair, Tangerine Bank President and CEO Gillian Riley and Country Manager and President of Visa Canada, Stacey Madge.
