As a Research Associate at Medlior, Chris utilizes the combination of health research experience with clinical expertise to deliver projects with impactful translational results. Chris began her training as a board certified Athletic Trainer in the United States, obtaining her MSc in Athletic Training and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Kentucky. As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Calgary, Dr. Waters-Banker’s research focused on the structural and functional changes that take place following repair and regeneration of skeletal muscle, and how these immunological responses alter with damage, across the lifespan, and various disease states. Prior to working at MEDLIOR, Chris was an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawai’i-Hilo and continues to serve as an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology and Exercise Sciences. Chris is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and the Canadian, American, and International Societies of Biomechanics.
