As a Research Associate, Myka brings experience in pre-clinical and clinical research from previous roles studying cancer and vascular biology. During this period, Myka developed novel clinical assays that resulted in two US patents and multiple publications. Myka received her MSc in immunology and PhD in neuroscience from the University of California, Davis. As a graduate student and an Autism Speaks fellow, she studied the molecular mechanisms of environmental risk factors in the incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders. More recently as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the UC Davis Conte Center, Dr. Estes worked to identify maternal biomarkers that denote at-risk, as well as, resilient populations in the incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Estes is an accomplished scientific writer and a member of the Society for Neuroscience and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
